As of Sunday, 31 people have tested positive for Covid-19 within Algoa FM’s Broadcasting footprint.
The Government has given a breakdown of the latest five positive cases reported in the Eastern Cape.
The Premier’s Spokesperson Mvusi Sicwetsha says three of the cases are in the Sarah Baartman District, one in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and one in the Chris Hani District Municipality.
He says the patients are between the ages of 25 and 60 and only three had travelled internationally whilst two contracted Covid-19 from local travelling.
The first two cases in the province were reported in East London.
The details of the other two positive cases in the Eastern Cape are not known.
Sicwetsha says the government is now working with the latest five people to ensure that they isolate and adhere to treatment protocols.
A team has been assigned to trace everyone they were in contact with.
Sicwetsha says in order to protect the patients’ confidentiality no other details will be provided.
On Sunday, the Kouga Municipality confirmed its first case of the coronavirus.
According to Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks the patient is not a resident of Kouga but is currently in St Francis Bay.
