The State has labelled Arnold Terblanche as a narcissist who orchestrated the plan to execute his estranged wife Vicki.
This emerged during the continuation of Terblanche's bail proceedings in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's court on Monday.
Fifty-Five-year-old Terblanche and Vicki's boyfriend Reinhardt Leach are both applying for bail while a third accused, 24-year-old Dylan Cullis, previously abandoned his bid for bail.
State Advocate, Marius Stander, read the lead-investigator, Colonel Rhynhardt "Kanna" Swanepoel's affidavit into the court - revealing grim details of the day 42-year-old Vicki Terblanche was murdered in October this year.
This included that the accused had gone go-karting at a local shopping mall with Vicki's body in the boot of their rented vehicle.
This vehicle had been fitted with a tracking device which was traced all the way to the shallow grave in Greenbushes where Vicki's body was found
Further details in court revealed that prior to her death and during the process of her divorce from Arnold, Vicki had to undergo four drug tests, all of which came back negative.
This directly contradicted the picture painted in Arnold's affidavit at the start of the bail application on Friday - where he claimed the divorce came as a result of her narcotics and alcohol abuse.
The State further revealed that it was in fact Vicki who filed for divorce on 1 December 2020, citing the fact that the marriage had suffered an irretrievable breakdown with extramarital affairs at the order of the day.
It also came to light that Arnold's 26-year-old girlfriend, Krystal Wiggill, with who he had been in a relationship with during the time Vicki filed for divorce, is still legally married.
(Krystal Wiggill (right) has been present in court since Terblanche's first appearance)
Arnold, Wiggill, her minor child as well as her mother, live together at his R4 million home in Mill Park in Gqeberha.
The court also heard how Vicki attempted suicide in November last year, due to the physical, emotional, and verbal abuse at the hands of Arnold.
The State submitted that Arnold Terblanche is domineering and dictatorial and this pattern was established through his numerous previous relationships and marriages.
The affidavit revealed that a previous spouse was, just like Vicki, admitted into a psychiatric hospital as she too was physically and mentally abused by Arnold.
Touching on Arnold's assets, the State said he deliberately moved millions of rands worth of assets onto the names of family members subsequent to Vicki filing for divorce.
On Friday, Arnold's affidavit stated that his only assets included his Mill Park home and a R6.5 million holiday home in St Francis Bay.
Alongside this, he earns a monthly salary of R65 000 and did not have any assets abroad.
However, it came to light in the State's affidavit that he failed to disclose that he also owns a motorboat, a rubber duck, a jet-ski and a BMW X5.
Arnold, however, indicated that he sold these items to his 33-year-old daughter.
He also recently bought a Toyota Hilux which is registered in his girlfriend, Wiggill's name.
He also transferred ownership of two Harley Davidson motorcycles, a BMW motorcycle, and an off-road camping trailer onto his daughter's name.
It was revealed that he removed himself as a Director from ProAc Engineering in November last year, replacing himself with his son-in-law.
The State said this had shown to what extent Arnold Terblanche was prepared to go to evade and obstruct the legal process.
Turning its attention to co-accused Reinhardt Leach, the State labelled the 33-year-old as a liar, psychopath, and a leech who used Vicki as his "cash cow" to fund his illicit abalone dealings.
It was heard that the former school teacher, under Arnold's instruction, plotted to murder Vicki from as early as 12 October this year.
It came to light that Leach is also a drug addict and that five packets of dagga and a packet of tik were found in the vehicle he was driving at the time of his arrest.
The State highlighted harrowing details from the day Vicki was killed inside her house on 18 October, a day before she was due to appear in court for her divorce matter.
Leach was named as the one who drugged her with Percocet, a schedule 6 drug, before suffocating her with a pillow.
Both accused number two Dylan Cullis, and a friend, Mario De Ridder, were present at the time of the murder until her body was buried in a shallow grave in Greenbushes.
The State revealed that De Ridder has made an affidavit in terms of Section 204 of the Criminal Procedure Act, in which he sets out the roles of the various role-players.
This, while Cullis who pointed out where Vicki's body was buried, made a confession and explained his role and that of the others to the police.
The State said it would also rely on witnesses, "X", "Y" and, "Z" for the case, all of whom either identify Leach as the driver of the rented BMW vehicle used to transport Vicki's body to the grave or as the person who approached witness "Z" to get rid of the body.
During Monday's proceedings, Leach abandoned his bid for bail.
