George police have opened a house robbery docket for further investigation after two victims, in their sixties, were accosted at their residence in Stander Street, Loerie Park at around 04:30 on Sunday morning.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says a preliminary investigation suggests that the woman returned from outside when she found two men, one armed with a knife and the other with a blunt object, in their home.
It is not yet known what the woman was doing outside.
Spies says the suspects assaulted the couple and forced them into their bedroom.
They took an undisclosed amount of cash, two Samsung cell phones and an assortment of jewellery.
They fled the scene in the victims' vehicle which was later found abandoned near Pacaltsdorp.
The victims are retired teachers.
