A 69-year-old man sustained stab wounds when three men stormed into a guesthouse on a local farm in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said the man was also assaulted with a bat sustaining a severe injury to his arm.
She said the 69-year-old man and his wife were sleeping when the husband woke up when he heard noises outside.
“The complainant saw a shadow and opened the sliding door to see who it was when three unknown males, of which one was carrying a firearm, stormed into the room,” Swart said.
She said the complainants’ wife screamed and the suspects ran out of the room and disappeared into the orchards.
The man was treated in hospital for his injuries.
“No items were stolen during the attack and police are investigating a case of attempted murder,” Swart said.
