Port Elizabeth police who were called out to an accident scene on Sunday arrested the victims when bags of abalone were discovered in their overturned car.

After assessing the damage, police found 809 units of abalone to the value of R320 000 in the boot of the car.
Colonel Naidu says the couple, aged 23 and 33, were driving from Port Alfred to Korsten when the accident happened.
The two were detained for the contravention of the Marine Living Resource Act and for the illegal possession, harvesting, diving and transporting of abalone without a permit.
They are expected to appear in the Motherwell Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
