The National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa will embark on a national strike action within the engineering sector on Tuesday morning.
The union says more than 220 000 workers countrywide will down tools in an indefinite strike for higher wages.
National Treasurer, Mphumzi Maqungo says The National Executive committee met last week where they received reports from the union in all 9 regions.
Maqungo says demands relate to a 15% wage increase across the board and also a total ban of labour brokers.
He says the strike will affect all the major engineering companies in Nelson Mandela Bay.
"The march will start at 09:00 at Centenary Hall and proceed to Vuyisile Mini Square. We are talking about companies like Borbet almost all big companies in the metro, it will also affect other companies as Numsa is the supply chain so whatever is in the auto sector the biggest companies in the Metro will be affected, even the other companies not on strike will be subjected to short time." says Maqungo.
Marches will also take place in East London and George.
