A 25-year-old shop owner from an outlet in William Moffett in Walmer, Gqeberha was slapped with a fine of R 5 000 after counterfeit goods and unregistered insecticides were found in his shop.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says police from Border Policing attached to the Port of Ngqura as well as relevant stakeholders confiscated goods worth over R1.3 million.
She says 809 bottles of various counterfeit perfumes were confiscated, 83 board games like Monopoly were also seized.
The Department of Agriculture and patent attorneys took ownership of the unregistered insecticides and confiscated goods which are now placed in licensed storage facilities.
