The Department of Health in the Eastern Cape has launched an investigation following the discovery of coronavirus test kits which seemed to have been dumped on the N2 between King Williams Town and East London.
Health Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, said that this was not a Departmental issue but a matter between a courier company and the National Health Laboratory Services.
"These (test kits) were in transit between hospitals. We need them to tell us what happened," he said.
Kupelo said the process of establishing the facts from the two institutions concerned is underway.
According to a report on ENCA these test kits were used.
