An 18-year-old man who allegedly committed a murder and then returned to the scene of the crime was arrested in Schauderville while police were combing the area.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu it is alleged that an argument ensued between two rival gang members in front of a house in Dinsmore Road in Schauderville, at around 14:45 on Friday.
According to police, Dominic Sebastian Ruiters, 36, ignored the suspect and proceeded to enter his mother's house.
The suspect then followed Ruiters and shot him multiple times.
Naidu confirmed that the motive for the murder was gang-related and that the suspect was arrested when he returned to the crime scene.
"The suspect is also detained on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm which resulted from an incident which took place on 9/03 when SAPS Gelvandale Tracing team members spotted the suspect walking with a firearm in the area.
"As he was chased by police, he jumped over a wall and tossed the firearm.
"He was not arrested at the time and an enquiry was opened," said Naidu.
Police have been searching for him ever since.
The stolen 9mm pistol recovered was reported stolen in Mangaung.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrates Court on Monday.
