Cop van bursts into flames

A police van from the K-9 unit in port Elizabeth burst into flames on the N2 near Commercial Road, Port Elizabeth, Saturday night.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the officers and their dog were on routine patrol when the noticed smoked coming out of their  Ford Ranger patrol vehicle.

She said the officers immediately exited the vehicle and freed the dog from the back.

Colonel Naidu said moments later the vehicle burned out completely. 

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
