Police are investigating the circumstances under which a firearm was allegedly stolen from a police vehicle in Mossel Bay.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie said they have opened a case of the negligent loss of a firearm.
He said a 9mm Vector Z88 pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition had been taken from a police vehicle in Kwanonqaba on Friday afternoon.
Pojie said they have also instituted an internal probe which would run concurrently with the criminal investigation.
He said the police officer also opened a case of theft out of a motor vehicle.
