The Hawks in the Eastern Cape say they are still searching for ANC councillor, Bongo Nombiba, who was meant to report for incarceration earlier this week.
Nombiba was convicted on charges of fraud and money laundering for pocketing R20 000 meant for a township-based community project.
He was sentenced to an effective five years behind bars.
After losing his appeal bids, Nombiba was due to present himself to authorities last Friday but arrived late.
After failing to report to court on Monday, a warrant of arrest was authorised the following day.
Hawks Eastern Cape spokesperson, Captain Anelisa Feni, said today that they are still looking for Nombiba.
