A concerned citizen's meeting was held in Richmond Hill, Port Elizabeth, this afternoon to discuss the way forward with regards to historical statues in the metro.
Well known Port Elizabeth attorney Michael White called the meeting at the Granary in Stanley street following the attack on the horse memorial on Monday.
The Queen Victoria Statue in the Port Elizabeth CBD was also damaged and covered in green paint.
It was suggested at today's meeting that all historical monuments be moved to one area, like Stanley Street itself, or Bayworld - or to place 24 hour security personnel around them.
At the moment the horse memorial has been taken away by the Metro to a place of safekeeping. The metro has committed to the repair of the horse memorial and cleaning of Queen Victoria.
Spokesperson for the Metro Roland Williams says a proposal needs to be drafted to be discussed in Council to determine the way forward.
