A 47-year-old man is expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday to face 16 counts of fraud, 10 counts of contravening the Tax administration Act as well as forgery.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Bonnie Nxumalo says the suspect, who is a director at a computer sales company, was summoned in January to appear in court.
She says the man allegedly failed to submit tax returns.
He instead, furnished the South African Revenue Service (SARS) with fraudulent information on his VAT and Tax returns as well as forged invoices between February 2013 and December 2019.
SARS lost an amount of R1 538 000-00.
