Community members make grim discoveries in Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth police are appealing to the public for any information surrounding the death of a middle-aged woman in the city’s Northern Areas.

Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, says the body of the woman in her fifties was found lying in a ravine in Bethelsdorp over the weekend.She was found by community members who then alerted the police.

Labans said the woman was fully clothed and appeared to have wounds to the face. He said a post mortem would be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.Police are also investigating a case of murder following the discovery of man who was left for dead in Walmer Township.Labans said the man in his forties was found dead in Federation Street, Walmer Township, over the weekend.

Labans said that he was found by community members and appeared to have sustained several gunshot wounds to his upper body.

No arrests have been made.
