The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says it’s looking at establishing a Housing Commission that will investigate cases of corruption within the human settlements directorate.
The decision was taken at a full Mayoral Committee meeting today, where a notification for the intended establishment of the commission was presented.
The matter has now been referred to the council for consideration.
Mayoral Spokesperson, Sibongile Dmbaza, says it’s a first for the Metro and is set to turn the tide on rampant corruption in the construction of low cost housing in the Metro.
