Two Port Elizabeth brothers who racked up traffic fines of more than R30 000 in their taxis have had their vehicles impounded.
Authorities also discovered that both their unroadworthy vehicles were sporting the same registration plates.
Municipality spokesperson, Kupido Baron, says traffic officials were doing routine vehicle checks in Govan Mbeki Avenue when they spotted the anomaly on the two vehicles which were travelling in opposite directions.
He says the vehicles were impounded, checed for roadworthiness and returned to the owners on condition that they fix all the problems.
They also have to return to have their vehicles to see if all the defects have been fixed.
Baron says the owners also had pay their outstanding fines dating back to 2009.
