A 27-year-old man who allegedly raped a woman at a Covid-19 isolation facility in Mossel Bay over the weekend made his first court appearance in the local Magistrates' Court.
The man, whose identity is known to Algoa FM News, may not be named due to the nature of the crime.
Police say the 20-year-old victim was staying in the one-bedroom facility when she was overpowered by the suspect this weekend.
The man worked as a cleaner.
A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority Eric Ntabazalila says the case was postponed until the 21st of September when the accused is expected to apply for bail.
He says bail will be opposed by the State.
