The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says a water leak on the Churchhill pipeline was repaired in the early hours of Saturday morning, but a second leak was discovered that will need a substantial amount of preparation work, including heavy construction equipment.
It says in a statement considering the extended time for the preparation before commencing with the repair, the pipeline will be put back into service.
The Metro says because of the long length of the pipeline, and reservoirs that are empty, it is envisaged that this will take the rest of Saturday into Sunday.
It says water pressure should start returning to affected areas by Sunday afternoon.
