Child rape accused Adrian Wilson Forbes has claimed that he is the victim of an extortion campaign by several people who accused him of abuse.

Wilson Forbes made the claim during his hearing in the George Magistrates Court on Monday.

He claimed that he had been the "victim" of an extortion campaign hatched by his young accusers.

The wealthy 60-year-old Knysna businessman, has pleaded not guilty to 79 charges ranging from rape, statutory rape, indecent assault and abduction to trafficking for sexual purposes and child pornography.

The crimes were allegedly committed between 2001 and 2012.
