Police in Gqeberha are investigating a case of culpable homicide and drunk driving following a fatal accident in Walmer on Sunday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says at approximately 1.25 am the driver of a Kia Rio collided with a VW Caddy with a woman and her 12-year-old son.
She says the accident happened on Main Road Walmer between 10th and 11th avenue.
The 12-year-old boy died on arrival at hospital and his mom was admitted in a critical condition.
Janse van Rensburg says the driver of the Kia was also taken to hospital with injuries where his blood was taken before he was placed under arrest.
The name of the deceased will only be released once the next of kin has been informed.
