Eastern Cape police are still searching for the assailant who stabbed chief Qaqamile Matanzima during a suspected botched hijacking this week.
Sixty-three-year-old Matanzima, the eldest son of former Transkei prime minister, George Matanzima, died in hospital from his wounds.
Police spokesperson, lieutenant Siphokazi Mawisa, says no arrests have yet been made.
Meanwhile, tributes continued to pour in for the Chief Matanzima.
Eastern Cape premier Noxolo Kiviet described his murder as barbaric. She called on the justice system to deal harshly with the perpetrators of these kinds of crimes.
Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, also expressed his condolences to the Matanzima family, while Eastern Cape opposition parties also expressed their sadness at his death.
