There were scenes of chaos at Lawson Brown High School in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday morning, amid allegations of racism.
The vocal protest by singing and dancing learners was related to a hair-issue, which first came to the fore at a Pretoria high school on Monday.
Two of the learners, Yonwabo Peta and Zandile Konzi, say Lawson Brown refuses to let them write their exams with braids/afro-hair styles.
The leaners told ANA-news agency that they were not prepared to change their hair styles.Earlier, learners decided to lie down in the street in front of the school, and accused staff of being racist towards black learners.
They demanded an apology from teachers who made alleged racist comments about African hair.People wearing EFF-colours also joined the learners.
The school's principal, Donovan Cairncross, addressed the learners and apologised, adding that clauses about hair styles in the school code of conduct would be re-worked.
