The Coega Development Corporation says the signing of a nuclear deal between South Africa and Russia will be a boost for the energy sector and an important catalyst for South Africa's economic growth.
In a statement on Friday, the CDC said the signing of two memoranda of understanding on nuclear power cooperation, would build on current work on energy projects.
The Corporation says the nuclear build program is identified by the Industrial Policy Action Plan as a significant opportunity for new investment which will drive economic development.
It said a strategic development of human capacity was required to enable the localisation strategy - and with this in mind it had already identified personnel for the nuclear skills development programme.
