Three people have been killed following a head-on collision on the N2 near the Kei Cuttings on Monday afternoon.
Spokesperson for the Department of Transport Khuselwa Rantjie says it is alleged that a Toyota Light Delivery Vehicle (LDV) overtook another vehicle and collided with a Mercedes Benz articulated truck.
She says the accident happened at about 1.30 pm.
All three occupants in the LDV were trapped inside and declared dead on the scene.
Nobody in the truck was injured.
The road had to be closed for the deceased to be removed from the wreckage.
Rantjie says the accident also led to an oil spillage on the road surface.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
