A Cape Town surfer has died at St Francis Bay after suffering a medical emergency at Seal Point.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, said various roleplayers, including NSRI St Francis and Kouga lifeguards responded to the incident on Monday afternoon.
He says when they arrived on the scene, a doctor was assisting lifeguards to administer CPR to the man, believed to be in his thirties.
Lambinon says an inquest docket has been opened and the deceased's name has not yet been released.
Family members of the deceased man were cared for on the scene by a trauma counsellor.
