A suspect wanted for the murder of the Deputy Chairperson of the Gugulethu Community Policing Forum (CPF) was arrested in the Eastern Cape on Sunday.
Fifty-six-year-old anti-crime activist Lulama Dinginto was shot and killed at her home on the 10th of December in the early hours of the morning.
The motive for her murder is still not known but police identified the 35-year-old suspect and issued a warrant of arrest.
It is alleged that the suspect fled to Gqeberha where he laid low for a few days.
Detectives got word that he was no longer in the city but had booked a bus ticket via Intercape, making his way back to the Western Cape.
Spokesperson Captain Marius McCarthy says intelligence was received from the WC that the suspect was on a bus heading towards Graaff-Reinet
He says local police waited for the bus to enter the town at 9 pm.
The suspect was identified and arrested on the bus before he appeared in the local magistrates court on the warrant of arrest.
The man has since been transferred to Cape Town where he is expected to appear in court for Dinginto's murder.
Dinginto's funeral was attended by Police Minister Bheki Cele who described her as an ally in the fight against crime.
She was laid to rest at the Gugulethu Sports Complex on Reconciliation Day.
