The Police anti-gang unit in the Western Cape is on a manhunt for an alleged abalone poacher who evaded arrest.
Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut said the unit received a tip-off about an unlicensed firearm and abalone at a residence in Parow.
He said the suspect managed to flee his home, jumped in his silver VW Polo and fled the scene.
Police searched the residence where they found a Baby Browning pistol with ammunition, including abalone valued at over R800 000.
