A 28 year-old pastor is being held in custody after being charged with raping a 16-year-old boy at Mchubakazi Township, Butterworth.
He appeared before the Butterworth Magistrate Court on Friday and the case was postponed to Monday the 22nd of February for further investigation.
The pastor cannot be named as he has not yet pleaded to the charge.
Police captain Jackson Manatha says the youth was taken to the pastor with severe headaches in April last year and stayed with him until December while he was being cured of his ailments.
Manatha says when the victim visited relatives in Cape Town they noticed signs that the boy had been sexually abused.
He broke his silence and alleged that he was raped by the pastor in his shack.
A rape case was opened and the 28 year old suspect was arrested on Wednesday last week.
