The Plettenberg Bay Business Chamber is spearheading a community-backed initiative to take legal action against the SA Police Service.
This, for allegedly failing to do their job properly in bringing the lawlessness in the town to an end.
Chamber chairperson, Mike Scholtz, said this was a decision taken at a well-attended community meeting in the town on Wednesday, where NGO's, churches as well as the ratepayers association backed the legal route.
He said a lawyer had already drafted a letter which was sent to the SA Police Service on Wednesday afternoon.
Scholtz told Algoa FM News that this issue has to be escalated to the level of the Provincial Government in the Western Cape and even up to the Constitutional Court if need be.
Police have meanwhile confirmed that 28 people have been arrested since the protest started on Tuesday.
