The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber says its deeply concerned at the impact of today's planned protest on the country's fragile economy.
CEO, Kevin Hustler, says the Chamber is also disappointed that the issues behind the strike could not be constructively resolved within the National Economic Development and Labour Council, Nedlac.
He says while the Chamber recognises the right of unions and workers to pursue protest action on socio-economic issues, he says this needs to be balanced against the current situation where industry can ill afford production losses.
Cosatu called the country-wide strike today to protest against government's proposal on e-tolling while also called for labour brokers to be banned.
