Gqeberha police are investigating a case of vehicle hijacking and murder after the burnt body of an unknown woman was found lying next to a car on the Perseverance Road in Kwadwesi on Sunday morning.
Spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says it is alleged that a 42-year-old man left a tavern in Kwadwesi Extension on Saturday evening with an unknown woman and drove to Chelsea Road in Perseverance.
She says while they were in the vehicle, they were approached by two unknown men in a red Toyota Tazz.
It is further alleged that the couple was shoved into the boot of their Ford Figo, and were driven around by the suspects.
Colonel Naidu says the complainant alleged that he was driven to an ATM in Algoa Park and when there was no money in the account, the suspects threatened him and dropped him off.
The complainant reported the incident at SAPS Algoa Park and the Ford was recovered by Tracker.
When police arrived at the scene, the woman was found lying outside the vehicle, which was completely burnt out.
The identity of the woman is unknown.
Police are investigating cases of vehicle hijacking and murder.
No arrests have yet been made.
