Port Elizabeth police have arrested three suspects in connection with burglaries at two schools in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said in the one incident, vigilant security officers noticed a broken window at a Newton Park school on Monday morning.
She said the security officers found the suspect, wearing a school jacket, inside the bathrooms.
A computer tower was also missing.
In the second incident, a community member reported a burglary in progress at a High School in Kwazakhele, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
She said it took police about two-hours to get the suspects, aged 19 and 30, hiding out in the ceiling.
“They had computer equipment in their possession,” Naidu said.
Meanwhile, three suspects, aged between 35 and 38, were arrested following an armed robbery at a Uitenhage business on Monday.
Naidu said the shop owner was threatened with a firearm before the suspects fled with cash and cigarettes.
She said during the arrests, stolen cigarettes, valued at around R2 000 were recovered, while a fourth suspect managed to evade arrest.
All the arrested suspects were due to appear in courts this week.
