Three men between the ages of 30 and 50 will appear in the Grahamstown magistrates court soon after a robbery on Monday morning which lead to a dramatic shootout between the suspects and the victim.
Police say the owner of a local business had taken one of his employees to the bank when he was accosted by two men who took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in a getaway car.
Captain Mali Govender says the business owner gave chase in his own vehicle.
"During the high speed chase the suspects fired shots at the owner who returned fire with his private licensed fire arm. The were also being pursued by SAPS and a local security company. We actually urge the community to contact the local SAPS and not fire shots, because this shoot out actually occurred in a residential area" she said.
