The Buffs Rugby Club in East London opened its doors to patrons yesterday - barely 24 hours after the main club house was gutted by fire.
Forensics experts have been on site but have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, which started in the kitchen area and quickly spread through the entire building.
Buffs Chairman Callan Hempel says they've re-located to the Griffen bar on the lawns in front of the club house and are determined to continue operating.
He says they are insured and are definitely planning to re-build the clubhouse of one of the oldest sports clubs in the country.
Buffs was established in 1877 and while a lot of priceless memorabilia was lost in the flames, Hempel says they were still able to rescue a fair amount of the club's proud history.
They will now digitise it to ensure it's safe keeping .
