Residents in Buffelsbaai near Knysna are being evacuated on Saturday due to a runaway fire in the area.
Authorities also confirmed that the N2 near Sedgefield has been closed due to fires in the Gansvlei area.
Eden Disaster Management Chief, Gerhard Otto said that gale force winds caused the fire to jump the road.
He said a decision was taken to evacuate residents of Buffels Bay as the fire is approaching the seaside resort.
Meanwhile a runaway fire has also jumped the N2 at Van Staden’s outside Port Elizabeth.
Eye witnesses said it was heading in the direction of Woodridge School.
There have been no reports of any damage or injuries as yet.
