The Buffalo City Metro (BCM) has warned job seekers not to fall into a trap where they are asked to pay money in order to get a job at the municipality.
BCM says in a statement they have been alerted to individuals who make use of its employee's identities, to scam people out of money by claiming to offer them jobs.
The Metro says this is fraudulent behaviour and against the law.
Jobs advertised for the Metro will always be published either in the local newspaper, BCMM's website or on their social media platforms.
The Metro will always sign a contract with the successful candidate and never ask any money in return.
Members of the public are urged to ignore any individuals who randomly offer them jobs and ask for money.
The public can report such fraudulent activities on the BCMM Ethics Hotline on 0800 212 532
