Buffalo City Municipality has unveiled a jam-packed programme for the summer season.
However, the Municipality says festivities will only be taking place in East London and King Williams Town.
Several reasons, including the dilution of the festivities over three sites, were among the reasons given for scrapping festivities in Mdantsane.
Buffalo City says the consolidation of the carnival into two events will ensure that it becomes a catalyst event attracting a broader market.
The traditional switching on of the lights takes place in East London on the 24th of this month and on the First of December in King Williams Town.
The annual carnival takes place in both cities between the 20th and 23rd of December.
