Buffalo City Municipal Manager Andile Fani has described the past two year in office as traumatic to him and his family.
Fani has been accused of submitting false qualification for the job he got in 2011.
He was later charged with fraud but these charges were dropped last week.
Algoa FM News reporter Zona Mpendulo reports.
Addressing the media on the matter in East London on Thursday Fani made a scathing attack on the media accusing it of interpreting his silence as a guilty plea.
Fani says the attacks by some forces and the media erased or pushed back most of his documented achievements on Google and painted him as a serial fraudster instead.
He thanked those that believed in him in the midst of the ordeal which says left a permanent mark in his career.
