Buffalo City Municipality will be hosting experts from across the country next week to find alternative energy solutions for the Metro.
The Municipality said an Energy Indaba will be held on 20 November at the East London ICC under the theme “alternative energy solutions for sustainable development”.
“The Indaba will be attended by energy industry role players and will feature presentations, case studies and panel discussions on critical issues like curbing illegal connections, funding options, green energy, modern electricity metering and LED street lighting vs conventional street lighting,” the Municipality said.
The Indaba will be officially opened on Monday by Executive Mayor, Xola Pakati, with the MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism, delivering the keynote address.
Buffalo City Municipality said it had invested over R500 million in the past 10 years on new electricity substations.
