Buffalo City calls for more beach patrols following attack on lawyer, Dali Mpofu

Buffalo City Municipality says it endeavors to keep its beaches safer.

This follows Thursday's attack on well-know lawyer, Dali Mpofu, who was robbed and stabbed while walking on an East London beach.

Buffalo City spokesperson, Keith Ngesi, says they are appealing to police for more frequent patrols of beachfront hot-spots.

"We are deeply shocked as the city by this unfortunate incident. We hope the police will move swiftly to apprehend the two suspects responsible for this act. The metro will continue with it's endevour to keep our beach area's safe. In doing so we asked assistance of the SAPS. We humbly request frequent patrols and random raids at these hot spot areas" he said.

Police said two men attacked Mpofu as he walked on a city beach, stabbing and robbing him of his personal belongings.

No arrests have yet been made.
