A 65-year-old British tourist has drowned while swimming at Jeffreys Bay.
The National Sea Rescue Institute says police alerted the NSRI that a man was in difficulty at the beach in front of Kabaljous Caravan Park on Saturday.
Jeffreys Bay station commander, Rieghard Janse van Rensburg says NSRI volunteers, police and provincial emergency management services responded to the scene.
He says bystanders dragged the unconscious man from the water and attempted to resuscitate him.
Janse van Rensburg says the man was later declared dead at the scene, and an autopsy will be performed to establish the cause of death.
