Brent Cunningham will hear next week whether he gets bail

The second bail application assault-accused Brent Cunningham continued in the PE magistrate's court on Friday.

Twenty one year old Cunningham is accused of assaulting former girlfriend Shireen Ballan and two other people in December.

He's been in custody at St Albans prison for almost five months.

Cunningham's father Malcom was at court today supporting his son.

Cunningham's lawyer, Danie Gouws reiterated that Ballan is a habitual drug user and is a lying witness.

Gouws further called witness attorney Louise Louwrens who testified that Ballan had contacted her because she had been worried after Cunningham's first bail application was denied.

State Prosecutor, Benedict Wilson argued that it was possible that someone else could have sent the message.

Magistrate Gavin Juicy will hand down judgement on Wednesday.
