A brave Port Elizabeth business owner tackled a gunman who tried to rob his salon on Tuesday, leading to the suspect's arrest on a charge of business robbery.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the drama unfolded on Tuesday morning when three men entered the salon in Rink Street in Central.
She said the men, one of whom was armed, robbed the complainant and his assistant of several thousand rands in cash.
As they fled the salon, the 38-year-old owner tackled and wrestled with the suspect with the firearm while his accomplices got away.
Colonel Naidu said members of the SAPS Port of Entry Unit were on patrol when they noticed a commotion outside the business and went to investigate.
They arrested a 20-year-old man on charges of business robbery and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is expected to appear in court soon.
