Bogus doctor from Molteno was Varsity drop-out says HPCSA

A bogus doctor and her husband appeared in the Queenstown Magistrate’s Court at Komani on Friday on charges of Fraud and Contravention of the Medicine’s Act.

Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says they were arrested in Molteno in the Chris Hani District on Thursday in a joint operation involving Komani Crime Intelligence, other police role players and the South African Health Products Authority.

The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) says Mandisa Pearl Raxangana and her husband, Anda Andile Mxalisa were charged for practising illegally as medical practitioners whilst not registered with Council, dispensing medication without a valid dispensing licence and fraudulently impersonating a medical practitioner.

A spokesperson for the HPCSA Priscilla Sekhonyana says Raxangana was using a false registration number on her medical certificates.

She says Raxangana reported that she registered as a medical student at Walter Sisulu University in 2003 and that she failed all modules and dropped out.

She started practising as a medical practitioner in January 2019 working together with her husband Mr Anda Andile Mxalisa who was also consulting with patients while not registered with Council.
