Graaff-Reinet police are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found on the side of the road about three kilometres outside the town on Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson, said police received an anonymous call informing them about a lifeless body of a "blonde woman" on the N9 in the direction towards Middelburg.
"On arrival, the members found the body of the woman, neatly dressed in blue jeans and blue shirt," he said.
Rawlinson said upon further inspection it was discovered that she had "an open wound on the side of the head."
He said Graaff-Reinet detectives are investigating a case of murder.
