Body of missing child found in canal at Kirkwood

The body of a five-year-old boy who went missing on Wednesday, has been recovered from a canal at Kirkwood.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Gerda Swart, says the body of Simphiwe Rooibaard was found on Thursday on the farm Bergkant, about 2.5 kilometres from where he went missing.

Swart says it is believed that the boy and his seven-year-old sister were playing next to the canal when he went for a swim, and drowned.
