Police search and rescue teams have found the body of a pizza delivery man who was swept away along with his motorcycle in the Third Avenue Dip in Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, said the search for the man was called off on Tuesday night due to the darkness and the strength of the water.
He said the search resumed on Wednesday morning and just before 8 am, the motorbike was found.
Beetge said team members continued the search and found the body of the 59-year-old man about four hours later downstream in the Baakens River.
"His name cannot be released until his next of kin have been informed and his body identified by family.
"An inquest docket was opened by SAPS Mount Road," he said.
Meanwhile, Nelson Mandela Bay traffic chief, Warren Prins, appealed to motorists to heed road closures after the road was closed as a result of recent heavy rain.
He said even if there is no water on some roads, the infrastructure may be compromised.
