Body found floating in Kowie River

Port Alfred police have opened an inquest docket after the body of a man was found in the Kowie River.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Luvuyo Mjekula, says the body of the 27-year-old man was spotted on Thursday, when a police patrol encountered community members pointing towards the river.

He says there were no visible injuries and no foul play is suspected. 

Mjekula says the victim was reported missing a few days ago.

His name has not yet been released.
