The Acting Chief Financial Officer in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has rapped Executive Mayor Mongameli Bobani over the knuckles for the late payment of invoices in respect of various service providers.
Jackson Ngcelwane writes in a letter to the Director in the Office of the Executive Mayor that this was for the months of September and October this year.
He said the target for the average number of days for Directorate approval for payments was 19 days, while the actual days for September was at 41 days, and for October 46 days.
According to the letter, there were 85 invoices that still needed to be paid for the two months.
Bobani has until Friday to provide a comprehensive report, detailing amongst others, the reasons for the late payments and what disciplinary actions had been taken against the officials involved.
